Community Wellness Lecture Series at Excellens Physical Therapy
Ever heard of pelvic health physical therapy? What are pelvic floor muscles? Did you know that there are physical therapists who specialize in treating pregnant and post-partum women? How about physical therapy for constipation? Join us every other Thursday as we answer these questions and demystify pelvic and abdominal physical therapy. We will discuss anatomy, physiology, common issues and conditions that are treatable through PT, and what to expect at physical therapy appointments. You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions and meet one of our pelvic floor therapists. Refreshments will be provided!

Mind Over Bladder: Understanding Pelvic Floor Weakness March 14th 5:30-6:30 pm
Have you always been curious about what kegels actually are? Do you lose a little urine when you sneeze? This talk is for you! Pelvic floor muscle weakness is very common, and not something to be embarrassed about. Join us to discuss common problems like urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and urinary urgency/frequency. We’ll talk about why these things happen, how physical therapy can help, and strategies to try on your own at home.
What To Do When You Can’t Go Number 2: How PT Can Help With Constipation and Bowel Health March 28th 5:30-6:30 pm
This lecture covers common bowel and abdominal conditions that can be addressed through physical therapy like constipation, fecal incontinence, and abdominal pain following surgery. We will go over normal bowel function, explain how these problems arise, and how PT can help resolve them.
Pregnancy: A “Motherload: of Symptoms- How PT can help you through a pain-free pregnancy and recover from childbirth April 11th 5:30-6:30 pm
Pregnancy doesn’t need to be uncomfortable, and the solution is not to just ride it out until the baby is born. Learn about how PT can help make your pregnancy more comfortable, and resolve pregnancy and post-partum related issues like pelvic girdle pain, low back pain, urinary incontinence, constipation, C-section scar pain, and neck and shoulder pain. We will talk about what happens after birth, strategies for lifting your new baby, returning to exercise and sex, and what to expect from your body as it goes through the stages of pregnancy and childbirth.
It Hurts Where?: Demystifying Pelvic Pain April 25th 5:30-6:30 pm
Pain with sex? Pain with sitting, riding your bike, driving your car? Pelvic pain for no apparent reason? PT can help! This lecture discusses different causes of pelvic pain and common conditions that can be addressed with physical therapy.
