“I developed such a bad cough that my throat became swollen, and my back was so sore that I couldn’t sit in a chair or travel in a car.”
Then Warner learned about PT PLUS, which provides physical therapy services in the home, workplace, fitness center, or community pool.
“I learned that Sharon, one of my neighbors, provided this service and I was thrilled to say the least,” Warner said.

Chris Found Convenience with
In-Home Physical Therapy
Chris has been nursing an elbow injury for several weeks. An avid pickleball player, the pain has finally gotten to the point that he decided to pursue physical therapy.
Chris works from home, but has a schedule that varies widely. In addition, he would prefer not to take the time to go to an office location.
He was excited to learn about PT PLUS, which brings expert physical therapy care to the client.
Working with PT PLUS has allowed Chris to stay in his home and make all of his physical therapy appointments, instead of missing them due to a quickly changing schedule.
Chris has also met with a physical therapist on his community pickleball court to practice correct elbow mobility while in action.

Benefits of In-Home Physical Therapy
In-home physical therapy offers numerous benefits that enhance patient comfort and recovery. By receiving therapy in a familiar environment, patients can feel more relaxed and engaged in their rehabilitation process. This setting allows therapists to tailor exercises and treatments to the patient's home environment, addressing specific challenges they may face in daily activities.
Moreover, in-home therapy eliminates the need for travel, making it especially convenient for individuals with mobility issues or busy schedules. Patients can receive personalized care at their own pace, which can lead to improved outcomes and higher satisfaction rates. For example, patients recovering from surgery can benefit from immediate access to therapy without the stress of commuting.
What to Expect During Your First Session
Your first in-home physical therapy session will typically begin with a comprehensive assessment conducted by your therapist. This evaluation aims to understand your medical history, current physical condition, and specific goals for therapy. The therapist will also review any previous treatments and discuss your preferences for therapy locations and times.
After the assessment, the therapist will develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs. This may include exercises, manual therapy techniques, and recommendations for equipment to facilitate your recovery. The focus will be on creating a supportive and motivating environment that encourages progress and addresses any concerns you might have.
Common Conditions Treated with In-Home Therapy
In-home physical therapy is effective for a variety of conditions, ranging from orthopedic injuries to neurological disorders. Common conditions treated include post-surgical recovery, sports injuries, chronic pain, and balance issues. By providing therapy in the patient's home, therapists can address specific functional limitations and enhance overall mobility.
Additionally, in-home therapy can be beneficial for patients with conditions such as stroke, arthritis, and postural issues. For instance, individuals recovering from a stroke may require specialized exercises to improve strength and coordination, which can be effectively managed in their home environment. This personalized approach ensures that each patient receives the appropriate care for their unique situation.
How to Prepare for Your In-Home Therapy Appointment
Preparing for your in-home therapy appointment can help maximize the effectiveness of your sessions. Start by creating a comfortable space where you can easily perform exercises and participate in therapy. Ensure that the area is free from clutter and has enough room for movement.
Additionally, it’s essential to have any necessary medical documents, such as prescriptions or previous therapy notes, ready for your therapist. Being open about your goals and any concerns you may have will also facilitate better communication and a more tailored treatment plan. This proactive approach can significantly enhance your therapy experience and outcomes.
