Aquacare Physical Therapy Announces New Clinical Directors in Salisbury
Aquacare Physical Therapy has announced Katie Oakley, PTA, and Katie Weber, DPT, CMTPT, COMT, are the new co-clinical directors of Aquacare Salisbury – Milford Street.
Oakley has been with Aquacare Salisbury – Milford Street for nearly a decade. She and Weber worked together to create the Dance Medicine program, which has been well received in the community since its inception, helping many local and regional dancers rehabilitate, recover, and get back to performing.
Oakley graduated from Wor-Wic Community College with an Associate of Applied Science – Physical Therapist Assistant degree. In addition to this, Katie earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Salisbury University.
A competitive dancer for nearly 20 years, Oakley completed Dance Medicine Certification to help dancers heal and gain strength to prevent future injuries. Oakley trained at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City, performed at Disney, and for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. She then transitioned into teaching and choreography and choreographed for James M. Bennett’s Rock n’ Roll Revival, Community Players, and the Theatre Department at Salisbury University.
Currently, Oakley guest choreographs and leads dance medicine workshops for local studios.
Weber has been with Aquacare for nearly five years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2009 from Mount St. Mary’s University, followed by a doctorate of physical therapy in 2012 from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She has completed certifications in manual trigger point therapy that incorporates therapeutic dry needling and in manual therapy.
She enjoys working with a diverse patient population ranging from sports injuries, geriatrics, joint replacements, and workers’ compensation patients. Weber is a former college swimmer, who is now an avid runner and triathlete, who works closely with the athletic and dance communities.
