Why Am I Coming To Physical Therapy?

Often what leads people to Physical Therapy comes down to pain. It could be pain with just rolling around in bed or pain trying to deadlift heavy weights in the gym. No goal is too small to tackle when coming to your Physical Therapist for help. Other times you may be coming to Physical Therapy to help you become stronger or more flexible to aid in your daily or recreational tasks, however you are not in significant pain.

Does My Attendance With Physical Therapy Matter?

Missing a day or two of Physical Therapy in the long run will not likely significantly affect your long-term results. However, making a habit of missing Physical Therapy does have the potential of effecting your positive outcome. Often, your therapist will only get to see you 2-3 times a week. That is only a fraction of your week that your therapist gets to use manual techniques to address soft tissue dysfunction, address joint stiffness, and/or correct any misalignments of your joints. At Aquacare Physical Therapy, we schedule you to allow for one on one time with your therapist, therefore even if you are 10 minutes late for an appointment, it limits that skilled care time that you need. Your therapist also needs to see you on a consistent and regular basis to appropriately progress your exercise program and to ensure that you are progressing and meeting goals at an appropriate pace.

What Can I Do To Make Sure I Am Putting My Success In Physical Therapist First?

Compliance with Physical Therapy is necessary to reach your goals to return to comfortable activity in the household and community. Good attendance with Physical Therapist and performing your prescribed home exercise program if crucial in seeing steady progress towards your goals. Your Physical Therapist will work with you, along with support staff to create a customized plan to address your specific deficits. Your body needs consistent challenge to progress and get better, therefore if you are not attending physical therapy as your physical therapist has deemed appropriate you will hinder your ability to get better faster.
